Picures Report

Trying to fit Tessie's bag in was pretty difficult (see the
story below).

You would think that seating at the airport would be readily available
at 4am...

The team photographer has to be in a few pictures. Well, of the
70ish taken today, this was the only one.
We'll call it the best one as well.

This is the new building that is being built to train and send out
Latin American Missionaries.

Megan and Joel trying to hang out during free time.

Closing our night with some fellowship together. They were pretty
tired at 7:15pm and couldn't believe how dark it was down here near the
Equator.
Costa Rica Day One – June 29, 2007
We arose at 3:00 am (at least some of us did), primped and packed and
took the shuttle from the hotel to O’Hare. The check-in at the
Spirit Airlines ticket counter was relatively painless (except for
Tessie’s suitcase being 9 lbs overweight! Good grief girl, talk
about overpacking!) as was the processing through security. We
boarded our flight at 5:20 am and pushed back from the gate right on
time at 6:00 am. We flew to Ft Lauderdale FL, changed planes and
continued on to San Jose Costa Rica. The connection was also a
breeze (except for Kelly leaving her passport on the first plane but
went back to our arrival gate to retrieve it. Good grief girl,
you pulled a P’ditty!)
We arrived safely in San Jose right on time along with our entire cadre
of luggage. After processing through Immigration and Customs we
met Eric Gustafson outside the terminal along with Marco our Taxi Van
driver. A short drive to the province of Heredia brought us to
Las Delicias del Maiz for some typical Costa Rican bill of faire for
lunch. A few kilometers up the road and we came to the
Multiplication Center, our home for the next 3 days.
Eric gave us a tour of the grounds and told us the history of how the
property was acquired by International Teams, an amazing story of God’s
grace and provision. Following a brief respite we were treated to
a sloppy joe, pasta salad dinner prepared by the lovely Caroline
Gustafson.
Worship time at 6:00 and an orientation meeting completed the official
elements of the day. Now as I type the team is relaxing watching
“The Three Amigos,” an excellent cross cultural film experience.
We hope you enjoy our daily journal and pictorial memoirs. More
tomorrow . . .
